Salto Application (ProAccess SPACE)

With the arrival of the App Store, the access link with Salto has been converted to an application. In this article we explain how to install it for your own administration(s).

Settings in Salto

To create the link, you will have to set up your basic information in Salto.

In the ProAccess Space:

  1. Go to General options and select PMS;
  2. Select Industry Standard;
  3. Set channel to TCP/IP;
  4. Select Industry Standard rule and click Modify;
  5. Set port number to 8090;
  6. Open ProAccess Space Configurator and restart the service.

You will also have to make some adjustments to Windows Firewall:

  1. Open Windows Defender firewall settings;
  2. Add new rule;
  3. Open port 8090.

Application in Booking Experts

To install the application you need to have access to the App Store, in this case there will be a market stall at the top of your Booking Experts menu bar. If you don't have this yet, ask Support to activate the App Store for you.

1. Click on the icon for the App Store;
2. Then click on Salto;
3. At the application, click +Install;
4. Here you will see an overview of what the application can see in your records(s);
5. Choose the administration(s) for which this application should be installed and click Install;
6. You will see a message which says that the link is successfully, click OK;
7. Click on Settings and enter your Salto URL there. The URL you need here is an external IP address followed by an externally accessible port. Bijvoorbeeld: 141.136.125.130:8090;
Please note: If you are working with, for example, an app that also provides Salto access, check the box next to Generate mobile key after checkin. This means that the external party (e.g. the App) also receives access information.   
8. You can also set an Authorization mapping here. Within the Salto system you have the possibility to set 62 different authorizations. These have their own number from 1 to 62. As you do not want to remember all the codes, we offer the possibility to link a name to a specific code. This way you can make it clear to yourself and the other users which authorization it is. This authorization is then reflected when creating the card types. For example: Authorization 23 is for access to the sauna and pool. You can then give this number the name Sauna & Pool.


Create card types and products

  1. At the top, click on Card types and products;
  2. Click on the + Add button and fill in the details:
    a. Name (you can make this up);
    b. Additional text for on card. Here you can choose, for cards that need to be printed, to print an additional text on the card. For example, the name of the organization or the emergency number in case of emergencies. This information can then be shown on a display (if applicable to the locks);
  3. Click on Add card type to save the data;
  4. Now go link the card type to Booking Experts. You do this in products. To do this click on 0 for a new card type; 

5. Next, go through the settings, which start with specifying a name for the Product, for example Guests;
6. Select the administration to which this applies. Often it is the administration from which you enter the AppStore;
7. Set the desired filters for this product. You can also choose to leave the filters blank, this way a map will always be created;
  • Accommodation label - This allows you to generate an automatic map for specific accommodations. This allows you to differentiate based on the accommodation label;
  • Type - You can create different products for each type;
  • Mandatory costs - In this way, when booking a mandatory cost item, you can have this product ready;
  • Extras - You can also connect selection by the guest cost items to the product.

8. Via ''Send cards to guest'' you can set whether the key should be sent automatically to the guest. When checked, you can specify how many days in advance the guest will receive the key.
9. Finally, you define the start and end time of the product. If you do not enter anything, the check-in and check-out times are used for this. 


Editing card types and products

1. At the top, click Card Types and Products;
2. For card type: Click on the name of the card type you want to edit;
3. For product: Click or on the number of products;
4. Click on the name of the product;
5. Click on Edit;

6. Make the changes and click Update Product at the bottom.


Creating a card

If the access card is created by means of automatic generation it will be actively displayed in the reservation. It is not yet linked to a card. For this the access card data needs to be printed on the card in Booking Experts by means of the desk terminal.
1. Go to the relevant reservation;
2. Click on Applications at the top;
3. Click on Salto: Cards;
4. Select the desired card(s), encoder and print the cards;
5. You will see a pop-up to issue multiple cards. Choose the desired number;
6. The desk terminal will signal when the card can be placed on it in the form of a beep. When the card is written, the desk terminal will stop beeping.

Copying an access card

It is possible to copy an already created card, this can be used to create multiple cards at once with the same data. Useful if for example the whole family gets wristbands and you want to print 6 cards. 
  1. Go to the reservation and click on Applications > Salto: cards;
  2. Select the card;
  3. Choose the encoder;
  4. Click on Print selected cards;
  5. A pop-up will now appear where you can enter how many cards you want to create;
  6. The desk terminal gives a signal when the card can be placed on it by beeping;
  7. When the specified number of cards have been written, the desk terminal will also stop beeping;
  8. The copied cards will show the number of copies made.
Please note: If you copy an already active and valid card, the start date will show that there is no value, as this will not be taken over by the desk terminal.
It is also possible to copy several cards at once. To do this you can do the following:
  1. At the top of Booking Experts, click on the market stall;
  2. Go to the Salto app;
  3. Click on Cards;
  4. Select the desired cards;
  5. Choose the appropriate encoder;
  6. Click on Print selected cards;
  7. A pop-up will now appear and in it you can enter how many cards you want to create;
  8. The desk terminal gives a signal when the card can be placed on it in the form of a beep;
  9. When the specified number of cards have been written, the desk terminal will also stop beeping;
  10. The copied cards will show the number of copies made.

Adding an extra card to a reservation

Sometimes you may want to add an extra card to a reservation because, for example, the guest will have a guest for a few nights. You'll want to process this information in Booking Experts with the specific reservation, in case the card is lost or malfunctions.
  1. Go to the specific reservation;
  2. Click on Applications at the top;
  3. Click on Salto: Cards;

4. Click + Add;
5. Do the settings and add the card;
6. Select the desired card(s), encoder and print the cards;
7. The desk terminal will signal when the card can be placed on it in the form of a beep. When the card is written, the desk terminal will stop beeping.

Linking an access card to an owner

When working with owners with access to the park you want them to be able to drive in and out of the park or use the pool without any worries. You'll want to process this data in Booking Experts with the specific owner, in case the card is lost or malfunctions.
1. Go to the specific owner;
2. Click on Applications and then on Salto: Maps;
3. Click on + Add;
4. Do the settings and add the card;
5. Select the desired card(s), encoder and print the cards;
6. The desk terminal will signal when the card can be placed on it in the form of a beep. When the card is written, the desk terminal will stop beeping.

Encoders / printers

You can create your own Encoders, or desk terminals that read the cards.
1. Click on the market stall at the top of Booking Experts;
2. Choose the Salto App;
3. Click on Encoders; 
4. With + Add, you add a new Encoder;
5. Specify the name and external identifier and add the encoder. 

Card re-use and card removal information

Used cards are not automatically emptied after they are no longer valid. However, old cards can be reused without any additional action. When reading an old card, the data will still be on it.
If you want to remove the information from a card, you can do so as follows. 
1. At the top of Booking Experts, click on the market stall;
2. Click on Salto app;
3. Click on Cards at the top;
4. Find the desired card and click on it;
5. Choose Delete. 

Set door or room name for accommodation

In Salto, your accommodation number in Booking Experts might not match the number used in Salto. In this case, you can set which number corresponds to the accommodation in question.

  1. Go to the accommodation in question;
  2. Click Edit;
  3. Enter the Door or room name;
  4. Click Save accommodation to save the information.

Access via App

Salto also works with a mobile key functionality. This allows guests, from an app, to open their home. 
How does this work?
1. The guest installs the JustIN Mobile app;
2.  The guest opens the JustIN Mobile app and registers by entering their number and requesting a code. This must be done before the card is sent from Booking Experts, but in principle this can be months in advance.
3. From the back office you send the card to the phone. You do that by opening a card. There you click on  Send to phone;

4. The registration will then automatically appear in the guest's app; 

Please note: If a guest has not registered in the app, you will get an error message back. For example: EG|+31647777136|Mobile registration not found.
The next step will be to make sending to the app automatic. As soon as this is possible, we will of course share this with you.

Read key

It is possible to read out Salto cards from Booking Experts. 
For this purpose an App command has been added in the menu bar:

Next, choose the encoder you want to read the key with, place the key on it, and click Start.
